L'ESPRESSO

It is above all a man’s world that allows no room for sentiments, the world of the stables and the racecourse. This, at least, according to the story that Dania tells, the main character of the book “Ritratto Di Scuderia. Un lavoro da uomo” (publisher Equilibri) with which the author, Barbara Sarri, won the award ‘Talent Scout…

IL MESSAGGERO

Writing and horses - two passions that the author has managed to combine with great skill and grace. In fact her novels move within this world.
The author has wrapped herself in the male personality of Bruno Grandi, the central character of the romance. The story portrays a corner of society, the horse world, though the eyes of a rich owner who has inherited a fortune. It tells of a man who trys to rebuild the bridge between his present and past and rediscovers love.

LO SPORTSMAN

…and so, a life between horses and writing: “Sipario a tre tempi” is a novel set in the world of the training stables and racing, with particular reference to San Rossore and Barbaricina, where the love and passion for the animals and racing are bonded together with vivid sensations and real feeling provoking intense emotions.

A.N.I.E.

Some cynics claim that instructors don’t know how to read… and yet, there is actually one who, more than reads, writes too. And well!

This is the case with Barbara Sarri, an accomplished instructor who works in the district of Acilia and who writes books in which the horse world, in all its diverse guises, plays the leading role…

IL FOGLIACCIO

…The splashes of vivid colour that come from the protrayal of the residents of San Rossore, captured in their natural spontaneity, and the knowledgable use of language, shows the closeness of the author to the racing world.

CAVALLO MAGAZINE

… the story and the writing by Ms Sarri, frequently interwoven with genuine expression, enchant the reader: also because a great love for horses as well as the smell of the stables, unique and absolutely unmistakable to its fans, flows from every page.

STORIE

I can’t put up with authors any more who delude themselves by telling stories riddled with belaboured technique.

And so Barbara Sarri joined the demonstration of “Penne Arrabbiate”, held at Pisa on June 13th 1996…after her debut with “Arrabbiate”, Sarri also published a story, “Ritratto di Scuderia” (Equilibri 2001), a perceptive autobiographical investigation into the world of horseriding.

Here the words take “either set paths or are chosen at random”. As with horses, it’s all a game of probability. A sure winner.

IL TIRRENO

The novel (Sipario a tre tempi) has been sponsored by both the Rome City Council (13th District) and the Pisa City Council.
The story takes its life from the Tuscan racecourses of Pisa in the setting of the racing stables of San Rossore.
The racing and betting world becomes the source of the characters of a book that imparts sentiments of love and family values.
The uncontaminated nature of the Tuscan parkland and the passion of training thoroughbreds emerge as the driving force behind the novel.
During his introduction, Giulio Leoni, an author of mystery books for the Mondadori publishing house, drew attenion to the importance of a narrative in which an animal becomes as central a character as the man. The book has also received an award in the category, Ostia Nel Mondo “Un libro per voi” in the Anco Marzio International Awards.
Barbara has worked for seven consecutive years in horse racing. She used to ride thoroughbreds at dawn before going to lectures at the University of Literature in Pisa.
Barbara first wrote a fictional narrative for the anthology “La consistenza” dedicated to Italo Calvino 1999-2000 of Penne Arrabbiate and, in 2001 won the Talent Scout Award in Rome with “Ritratto di scuderia, un lavoro da uomo” judged by Maria Sole Teodorani Agnelli and Patrizia Carrano. It was a novel applauded by great authors such as Margaret Mazzantini and Maria Rosa Cutrufelli.
Available soon will be a soliloquy of poems entitled “Una stanza fuori” dedicated to the author, Virginia Woolf (from her composition “Una stanza tutta per sé”) published by the Tuscan publishing house, Zona.

GIULIO LEONI

Difficult though it is for a female writer put herself in a man’s shoes, Barbara manages to create a personality we can associate with. Often in literature authors are only capable of talking about themselves, not many writers are capable of making a quality jump and communicate something to their readers. Barbara is on this route.

PATRIZIA CARRANO

…I wanted to reiterate that in your poetry , even a simple reader, I have found a train of thought, a relationship, and a desire to investigate that really amazed me … it seems that you are following the right path.

MARIA ROSA CUTRUFELLI

…after various ‘pilgrimages’ around Italy, I have finally stopped and have had the opportunity (and time) to read the books you had given me. All of them, starting from ‘Ritratto di scuderia’ and ending with the poems, struck me by the incredible sensitivity that they reveal and your ability to transmit this in the text. Even your love for Sardegna and your grandmother (so distressful) are clearly evident from the narrative. I must confess however that I preferred the books that spoke about the horse world, but maybe only because it is a world that intrigues me. I don’t know it, and you have brought me into it on tiptoe. Well done!…

ANGIOLA CODACCI PISANELLI (L'ESPRESSO)

I got your book Sipario a tre tempi, read it really avidly and it seems to me already ready for a film or at least a TV film, it’s so realistic, anchored to such a clearly defined setting and described in such minute detail…
